One score is never enough.
Carsniper keeps specification fit, market value, verification coverage, listing risk, and price confidence separate so a low advertised price cannot hide weak evidence.
Match score
Measures the vehicle against the buyer’s parsed brief: make, model, year, trim, colors, packages, required features, mileage, title, accident tolerance, budget, and distance. A mandatory miss is disclosed as a compromise. Mandatory requirements are never relaxed silently.
Value score
Compares the listed price with source-backed comparable observations, then considers mileage, age, days on market, and modeled negotiation leverage. The development provider uses synthetic comparables and labels them accordingly.
Verification score
Reflects checks that actually ran. Passed checks add coverage; unknown and not-run checks remain visible and reduce the score. “Verified” is reserved for records with broad, recent coverage.
Risk score
Accumulates transparent signals such as missing or invalid VIN, branded or unknown title, damage indicators, fee opacity, seller identity gaps, prior high-utilization use, open recalls, and incomplete listing data. Serious title or structural signals are rejected by default.
Price confidence
Represents the quality and volume of comparable observations plus listing-data confidence. It is not a guarantee. Taxes, registration, documentation fees, shipping, inspection, maintenance, financing, trade equity, and conditional incentives are shown as assumptions.
Overall Carsniper score
The current model weights match 36%, value 24%, verification 20%, inverse risk 13%, and price confidence 7%. The complete component breakdown is stored with each scored result for auditability.
